The utilisation of full carbon in the construction process brings forth a host of advantages. Firstly, the lightweight nature of carbon fiber allows for increased speed and manoeuvrability, enabling surfers to effortlessly navigate the waves with precision and finesse. Secondly, the exceptional strength-to-weight ratio of carbon fiber ensures enhanced durability, promising longevity and resilience against the rigors of the surf.
Moreover, Cohete's Full Carbon Technology offers a significant reduction in overall board weight without compromising structural integrity. This reduction in weight contributes to improved buoyancy, facilitating easier paddling and better wave-catching capabilities. Surfers can expect a heightened level of responsiveness, allowing for quick turns and seamless transitions between maneuvers.
Cohete surfboards commitment to innovation extends beyond performance; the Full Carbon Technology also prioritises sustainability. By utilising advanced materials that optimize durability, Cohete surfboards aims to reduce the environmental impact associated with frequent surfboard replacements. This emphasis on longevity aligns with the company's dedication to eco-conscious practices within the surfing community.
The introduction of Full Carbon Epoxy Technology by Cohete Surfboards marks a significant milestone in the realm of surfboard construction. It not only elevates the surfing experience but also sets a new standard for performance, durability, and environmental responsibility within the industry.
As surfing continues to evolve, innovations like Cohete's Full Carbon Technology pave the way for a new era of surfing – one where the fusion of craftsmanship, technology, and sustainability takes center stage, enabling surfers to push their limits and ride the waves like never before.

I've been to Indo at least 10 times, for a total of over 7 months around the Mentawai islands, surfing the same (amazing) spots over and over, and I was ready for a change. I opted to spend the first two weeks of my 5 week trip north of the Mentawai's, on Telos Island. Telos is supposed to be the last frontier, where surfing crowds have not yet discovered the surf breaks, and where you are supposed to surf alone most of the time. There were 4 main waves that we surfed during these two weeks: Pasti, a very fast, hollow, long, and shallow right, deemed as dangerous on most surf blogs; Nagga, which was something like Pasti's little brother, Rahasia (means secret spot), a perfect barreling left, and Tanggu, a very playful and turn-y right. Pasti definitely lived up to its name. Though I opted to wear reef boots most of the time, every time I pulled in a barrel, it pinched; one time, I decided to surf the wave all the way to the inside. After the wave was finished, the water retreated out of my feet, and a second inside wave broke on me, turned me over, and slammed me on a very sharp coral head. I came out on the surface trying to assess how deep my wounds were and if I would need stitches. It turned out, though I did need stitches, I didn't even have any skin left to stitch(!!!) Not the best start of my trip, but nothing that a roll of silver duck tape couldn't fix so I can keep surfing all day. Telos island, overall, also lived up to its name as the last frontier of surfing in Indo. The whole time I was there, I surfed maybe with 5 people max at any given time. Other than that, I failed to exit any barrel I pulled into, I got a very gnarly and very large reef tattoo from that day at Pasti, I messed up most of my front side snaps that I attempted, got a few more minor reef tattoos, and only had exactly one session that went smoothly and I very much enjoyed: it was the biggest day at the left, Rahasia, where I took out my 6.6 Cohete pin tail surfboard and just had fun dropping in big open wave faces and finally not wiping out. I couldn't help but wonder: maybe I am really not designed for performance, "small wave surfing" on small boards. Maybe I should give up trying to compete with the Greek team at ISA, maybe I will never be good enough...
After my Telos adventure, I opted for more familiar grounds. I was off to the Mentawai's once again! A couple of girlfriends of mine were already at Lance's Right, otherwise known as Hollow Trees (HTs). So off I was, from one 14 hour boat ride to another 14 hour boat ride, from one island to another. HTs is one of the most famous waves in the Mentawai's, as it is known for its perfect righthand barrels, and the shallow inside section known as "the surgeon's table". With an already hurt leg, and an even more hurt ego, my first day surfing HTs was not only unsuccessful, but also terrifying. I kept having visions of myself wiping out and getting shredded on surgeon's table. So I stayed on the shoulder and caught exactly one wave, and went back to my room almost ready to quit surfing. The next few days were better, but only marginally- at least, I thought to myself, I was hanging out with my girlfriends who I don't get to see very often, so the whole trip is not a complete waste of time. Every day, something was wrong with my surfing. My stands were too narrow, I caught the wave too deep, I didn't catch the wave deep enough, my turn was not aggressive enough, I pulled into a closeout. I was mentally exhausted. And then it happened again. A big swell came at HTs, with sets over double overhead. And once again, I felt like home on my 6.6 Cohete pin tail surfboard. I was finally relaxed, and caught some bombs, having a whole crew of guys watching and cheering me on (they seemed impressed) while my friends refused to even surf most of the day. What is wrong with me??? I know that the two shorter boards JT custom made for me are really good boards, so why am I riding them like crap?? Will I ever learn how to shortboard properly? Why was I so surf-confused?
My time in the Mentawai's came and went, and the next thing on my travel agenda was a boat trip at the Banyak islands. I was terrified. How was I supposed to spend 14 days on a boat, at a remote location, with no cell phone service or Wi-Fi, with a bunch of strangers on the boat, all men, while I felt like I could no longer even surf? But there I was, finding myself boarding a very nice catamaran called "The Pulse", setting course for a mystery break called Treasure island and another one called "Bay of Plenty", apparently named after a famous book. First day at the Bay of Plenty, I surfed for 9 hours. I only got cut on the reef a couple of times, nothing as serious as in Telos. The wave was very challenging, a very tight right hand barrel breaking on very shallow reef, so shallow, that you could see the boils from the corral heads on takeoff. At that time, I had already given up on trying to surf well, and had changed my objective to just trying to not die. And then everything changed. The guys on the boat were a bunch of really nice older Australian men, that observed I spent all day in the water, and gave me the nickname "barnacle", or "Barney" for short. Second day we spent at Treasure Island, I also surfed for 9 hours. My first wave was a big open barrel that I made it in and out. My second wave was a big open barrel that I made it in and out. I was finally actually surfing again. When the swell was big, I was getting barreled on my 6.6 (gosh, I love that board). When the swell got smaller, I was getting barreled on my new Cohete 6.0 pink squash tail surfboard (did I mentioned 3 of my 4 boards are neon pink??) when there were no barrels, I was doing vertical snaps, front and back side, on my super skate-y and fun Cohete 5.8 squash surfboard. I started doing laybacks, out of the blue, and kept doing laybacks. What the heck had happened to me? I couldn't complain. My passion for surfing was alive again. I put 9 hours in the water every day. The boys from the tour (they named our group Barney and the boyz) were super supportive. Always treated me like an equal, always respected my surfing skills. I fell in love with all my 4 Cohete surfboards all over again.
I still have so much to learn, and so much to improve on. But now the possibilities are endless. I am no longer scared. I am no longer confused. And I am happy with all my failures. It takes all the failures in the world, in order to get that deep stand-up barrel. All the failures in the world to do that nice vertical snap. I hope for many more failures to come on all my pink boards, cause otherwise we stay stagnant. And why do we even surf, if not to always evolve and always move forward? Ta panta rei.

]]>Wing Foil has become a trusted watersport and more people everyday they learn how to wing foil. It’s bit of similar with windsurfing and bit of similar with kitesurfing but then again it’s just so different from all as you basically glide on the hydrofoil which is a simply different feeling comparing to all other watersports.
As all other watersports safety equipment comes first and DAKINE has been developing some very cool products to keep you safe in the water. This product line includes, wrist leash, waist leash, ankle leashes, wing foil harnesses, helmets and more.
Tested and trusted by surfers DAKINE has always been on the forefront of product evolution for all watersports. Enjoy the video and learn how to use your wing foil equipment.
]]>We announce to you Kainui Plus leash. DAKINE Kainui plus is a cordless leash, super durable for intended use in overhead waves. When the swell is pumping a couple feet overhead, you need a serious surf leash that will keep you tethered to your board in powerful waves.
DAKINE was founded with the goal of meeting this challenge, and it builds on this legacy with the six-foot Kainui Plus.
Designed to strike a balance between speed and durability, it features the highest-quality ¼-inch (6.5-millimiter) urethane Dura-cord with speed pockets and molded ends to minimize drag in the water.
The molded ankle cuff padding with a new hydrophobic exterior ensures a snug-but-comfortable fit and distraction-free security in the most critical sections of the wave.
Born from feedback from our entire surf team. This streamlined leash borrows features from our pinnacle and legacy leashes to create the lowest drag leash you can buy. Have all the security of a top-of-the-line leash, distraction free with our speed pocket cord tech and molded ankle cuff padding.

We’ve also upgraded to an eps-epoxy carbon reinforced surfboard technology. Eps core has still a wooden stringer and on top a reinforced carbon patch. It doesn’t get any better, boards still flex amazingly and they are more rigid than ever.
Candy surfboards are designed in Athens, Greece under the same roof of Cohete Surfboards and with designer/shaper John Tsoutis behind the mask!
All same shapes, convenient with a full range of surfboards for beginners and intermediates.
All surfboards have both sides carbon patch to reinforce the wooden stringer and react as tension stoppers when the boards hit the sand.
Nerd surfboard model, Pocky surfboard model, The Riviera surfboard model, Lipstick surfboard model, Sugardaddy surfboard model, Curly Rainbow surfboard model all come in two different size dimensions for you to choose the ideal volume of a surfboard according to your weight and surfing ability. That doesn’t mean that you won’t get advice from your shaper, always.
Plethora of new upgrades on Candy surfboards and the one that stands out is definitely how lightweight the boards have become due to the eps-epoxy surfboard construction.
This makes you stand up on the wave easy on those smaller summer waves.
All of them in stock and ready to hit the waves, enjoy the ride fellas, we build quality surfboards for you to have fun when surfing. Yap!
]]>
We’re seeing more and more in the line up, like anywhere, if you’ve recently traveled to California or Bali you see a lot of those boards, no matter the conditions if it’s small or head high, overhead waves. If you are looking for an all-rounder and one board quiver, mid length can be this type of a surfboard.
This is what is all about, diversity and how to catch more waves. I mean imagine you haven’t surfed for a while and you grab your 7’2” mid length and go out in waist high surf, that would be the best day of your life!
What we see is that through the years, surfboard evolution has been leading the market and more friendly and fun shapes like fish, twin fins or mid length surfboards are introduced to surfers.
A high adaptation as we see, imagine you are a longboarder but you want to surf big waves and you have to duck dive bigger sets, mid length is a great alternative type of a surfboard.
This is how we orchestrated the redesign of Bandito model as a mid length surfboard model.
Shaper John Tsoutis has taken the original Bandito design and thinned out the rail band.
A softer more refined deck leading to a softer but still foamy rail. Squash tail softer deck edged in the tail block. Concaves are slightly different as main approach is double concaves comparing with the original Bandito’s single concave.
That means more glide and speed generating, not to mention how easy this surfboard can catch the waves. This board is all about fun, a pleasure to surf and might be even your every day surfboard.
Dimensions vary from 6’6” to 8’0” in our eco friendly eps-epoxy-carbon stringer technology.
We do make these surfboards in different tails like round and round pins as well.
The rail profile in addition with the refined curved rocker will allow for turning the board with speed and get you where you desire with ease. Great for engaging your rail in open waves, grinding through the sections this board is super fun to surf in plethora of conditions.
Who surfs mid lengths?
Maybe you, when the waves are knee high but still want to perform and glide a bit faster comparing with your longboard, or maybe you, that you are tired of competing with groms that paddle forever.
Less volume in the nose and the tail and added length still makes this board trim well and turn nicely, I wouldn’t recommend this board for tight turns or getting vertical but it can definitely handle different wave types. So many fin options to try out and each one of them can radically transform how the board surfs.
]]>But that’s during summer, winter time there are proper swells, blessed days like the ones you’ll witness below... Team rider K. Oikonomidis rides AMS in slightly different dimensions from the standard ones. His board is a 5’10”x18.90”x2.28” 27.80 V AMS surfboard model in eps-epoxy-carbon stringer surfboard technology.
Surfing actions unfolds, it’s great to see a surfboard finished and ready to picked up from the shaping room and then K. Oikonomidis shredding some of Greece’s finest waves.
]]>I’ve shaped for my self and for fellow surfers some twinnies and that’s wayyy back… I would say though most of them would be like 65% traditional and 35% performance. Like less rockers, flattish decks, fuller rails, but surfboard evolution kept going and 2016-2017-2018 I designed and started experimenting, shaping, refining so many different twinnies, looking to find this perfect balance of a well refined twin surfboard that you would even go at the surf shop and buy new fins to try out. Well this worked, I tried out many different twin fin sets during this period of time. It worked...
More less what I’m describing is the birth of El Dios Zeus surfboard model. All R&D and prototyping took place in Athens, Greece at my shaping room. I guess as a shaper and not a pro surfer this sounds more of my type of surfing lately. Like every time I surf with my shortboard it’s so and so but it’s almost perfect every time I surf with ‘El Dios Zeus’.
Still it took me three years and maybe another refinement of the model might come, but that’s what I love in this process, designing surfboards looking out for perfection.
More details of ‘El Dios Zeus’ surfboard model link below.

John Tsoutis designed and shaped this fresh quiver, locally in Athens, Greece at his shaping room in coalition with Juan’s feedback as an upgraded and refined batch of AMS surfboards for 2022 season. Manufactured on our eps/epoxy/carbon stringer surfboard technology. More proven and eco-friendly than ever with cobalt carbon wrap that reduces carbon footprint to the minimum. Our surfboards are made exclusively on this surfboard technology here in Athens, Greece or elsewhere in the world under license.
Now surfboards are sent to Bocas Del Toros and Juan is all about surfing and experimenting with his new blades. Let’s hope for a surfing season with as many waves as possible. That’s how we make surfboards, with love, passion and dedication.
Below photos of Juan with his new AMS surfboards in the tropics.

They created two unique surfboards as honor to their beloved country!
@john_tsoutis founder/shaper of Cohete Surfboards, shaped and glassed with resin tint technique two shortboards. One of two is an AMS model 6'1" with deck and bottom dark green resin tint and the other one is a RED EYE model 5'11" with a school bus yellow resin tint and dark red free hand creations.
Once the boards were ready @margichriss founder/owner of Maggoosh Jewelry took over and with her magic hand and painted on top of the finished boards some amazing free hand details.
Those boards are by definition custom and below some eye candy videos and photos of the designer's presentation.

So at the 21 of October eleven people from different parts of Greece came to the trip to join us on the search of that endless stoke that we are so profoundly after. The feeling of meeting people for the first time and immediately jumping in to a plane heading to Africa with them is something unique and amazing, since you are exploring a new country but also each other. All packed with good vibes and boards we left Greece heading for Morocco heading for the desert heading for the waves. Arrived at night picked up the cars and drove all the way south to Imi Ouaddar a place right next to Taghazout some three and a half hours drive from Marrakesh. We met with our Moroccan connection Ibrah which by the way is no stranger to Cohete Surfboards, a long time friend and brother and one of the reasons that Morocco is such a dear place for us. All the plans for next day were made and we headed to the houses located right in front of the ocean, with the sound of breaking waves in the middle of the night we drifted to sleep…. We have arrived ……
We woke up to an amazing Moroccan dawn with spectacular colors feeling up the sky, met in the parking and headed out for the first session. The ocean provided everything that we could ask for the next days , we had waves for all kind of levels of surfing from beginner waves to Anza to advanced surfing at the famous Boilers spot, everyone got there fair share of stoke and that nomadic experience of surf travel constantly moving from one place to the other in the search of …… we embraced the culture and got really captivated from that other reality, so different than ours so simple and pure. Surfed spots like Tamri a place that will always stay in our hearts for the incredible scenery and the perfect quality of waves that gave us the last days(14 sec period) also Insuan , Anza to name but a few , and last but not least Boilers spot with the waves breaking right next to a boiler(thus the name) from and old shipwreck making a magnificent world class right , rocky as hell you really don’t want to miss that ride. We also saw flocks of jumping tunas dancing meters away from the line up in Insuan and the next day the biggest invasion of jelly fish(medusas) in Tamri with literaly thousands of them all over the line up and everywhere you could see , not a so pleasant experience if you are in the water … and we were….in the water…. Ooops
All week was a dream with good conditions every day and good vibes only, we were so lucky having Ibrah taking us from spot to spot and making sure that we had good surf and good times , only gratitude comes in mind and lots of love. This experience wouldn’t be what it was if it wasn’t for the eleven people that participated making this an experience of a life time , so we would like to thank everyone… here it goes….. George , Aggelos , Giannis , Mihalis , Zisis , Dimitris , Mihalis , Lambros , Kostas , Alexandra, Ioanna we thank you so much for the trust you putted in our company and for all those unforgettable moments we shared in and out of the water , lots of love to all of you guys your trust means a lot to us . So that was our Moroccan trip in a few words …..another day in the office now …dealing with foam and sales …..planning our next destination …taking you to places ….in the search of the stoke …. Stay tuned …….

Do you know that there is this theory that states that everything around us is alive, has motion and maybe sometimes a “soul”.
We kind of agree with this and when it comes to Surfboards we are pretty sure about it. It’s not just a piece of foam, in some cases is way more than that.
The story goes as follows , it starts as a blank piece of foam but then something “magic” happens …… the shaper happens!
He gives form and life, with every stroke he gives a piece of his soul and whole lot of love turning the blank to something alive to an entity to your board! Hand shaped and so proud of it! This is the dead custom series! Dead stands for how serious we are about it …… dead serious!
You can order anything you want and we will hand shape it with love and care…
And the debut board of this series is this outstanding nose rider longboard with a spoon nose concave to V hull all the way through, this log is a delight!
Resin tint beauty the board really stands out ….. if you like what you see then wait till you get in the water! hand shaped and proud of it!

Cohete Surfboards Team Rider Stel Di is a young gun from Greece that shreds in surfing and skateboarding. Caught up with him on a fun day surfing AMS model and sending it! Stel Di rides an AMS 5'9"x18.75"x2.48" 27.90lt on our unique carbon stringer epoxy technology.
The clip is co filmed from Cohete Surfboards and George Yannakopoulos and edit from George Yannopoulos (@george_yann).
Special thanks to Avatos for the music design.

‘KINGPIN HYDRO’ comes standard in the following dims: 5’4”x19”x2.25” 27.0lt and is available in BAMBOO/CARBON technology. https://cohetesurfboards.com/pages/cohete-kitesurf-technology
‘KINGPIN HYDRO’ design is based on a modernized mix of a square nose and a parallel outline. This blends with with a hull rolled double concave in the bottom for extra drive when choppy.
It’s amazing how easy you get on the board as you feel your stance is very spacious and stable. We have optimized the inserts position for the straps with three front foot position and one in the back foot.
‘KINGPIN HYDRO’ board comes standard as five fin plus our unique ‘HYDROFOIL ARTERY’ adjustable box system so you can adjust your hydrofoil on the board according on your height and weight or your riding preference.
The whole idea behind the born of ‘KINGPIN HYDRO’ is to create a board that can go as a set with our Kite Hydrofoil but at the same time you can go foil surfing, foil wake surfing, kite surfing with straps or strapless.
Hydrofoil comes standard with aluminum mast, fuselage and base plate. Both front and rear fins are full carbon. Hydrofoil set comes standard either with a 24” mast, (entry level, easier to stand on especially when flat water conditions) or with a 36” mast, (intermediate level, better gliding in choppy water conditions).
Different masts are sold separately as spare parts so you have a complete hydrofoil set kit.
Enjoy some photo coverage from Nick Kalaitzian and Vaggelis Avramakos riding the ‘KINGPIN HYDRO’ with a 36” mast.
Their quivers were packed full of different boards including a custom built longboard, but the conditions were perfect for shredding the AMS’s, the Little Mexico and the Jawbreaker, the performance line of Cohete Surfboards. The everyday wave conditions were pumping 4-6 footers generating swells for perfect surfing. The main breaks of Anchor, Boiler and Dracula were generating endless 4-6ft wave sets. Surfing at its finest, low crowds and friendly vibes on almost all the line ups! It was a dream the boys said, “It was a few years back when the team last visited Taghazout and there were even less crowds. There are so many breaks in this region that you can still surf alone either morning or evening! Everyday two sessions, we surfed our brains out and definitely we won’t miss the right breaks for a long time!”
There has been explosive development and infrastructure building in the Taghazout area, signs that shout out that this surf spot is becoming more touristic and more and more popular. “Never the less we were lucky to enjoy what the ocean had to deliver. So cheers to that! Why not visit again for another surf story” says Cohete’s shaper/founder John Tsoutis.
Enjoy our photo diary and unfold this amazing surf story!

For a while now I’ve heard China and in particular Hainan Island; a province of China’s southernmost point has endless surfing potential. Hainan, open to the Southern China Sea doesn't exactly have your small island vibe feel, consisting of 1.3 million people and known for its tropical climate, luxury resorts and forested, mountainous interior.
The island and in particular China is quite overwhelming. Lets put it this way, I don't think I made it back to my hotel once without getting confused and lost. At times it felt like someone decided to build a massive “The Sims” city like video game on the beach with implanted palm trees. Getting around and communicating was challenging. Overseas, hand gestures and expressions usually get me through the language barrier, but somehow in China it wasn't giving me any luck.
When I arrived the first thing I did was try and hire a car. Yes, I know I’m not the most organized person! To my surprise driving as a tourist is against the law. All tourists must hire a driver to get around or you can pay to have your license converted and translated which can take several weeks. Hardly ideal and convenient for any holidaying go getter.
Interestingly all western social media, Instagram, Facebook, google etc. are blocked by the government, a country controlling and filtering their citizens.
Getting money exchanged at the bank seemed more like filing for a mortgage on a house. I don't think I have ever signed so many documents for such a basic transaction in my life. I guess the 6 page visa application before arrival wasn’t enough information. I was beginning to understand the word, meaning and spirit of Communism.
After some research I decided to base myself on the south west coast of Hainan after researching Wanning, Riyuewan Bay was the most consistent area to surf. During my stay unfortunately the swell was flat until the very last day where I scored a fun session with storm generated swell off the north coast of Taiwan commuting south past the Philippines towards Hainan.
When the waves finally arrived it was super fun and playful, around the 2-3 foot mark with a light offshore breeze and plenty of rain. My custom eps epoxy fused carbon stringer AMS was surprisingly lively and built up plenty of speed when pumping though the sections. I was surprised to see how developed the local surf community was. So many young aspiring kids, surf hipsters and beginners all getting a piece of the swell on offer. It’s crazy, there was even a “Hainan Surf Team” with a hired western coach training and preparing them for the upcoming Olympic Games. I was surprised to even see a surf community let alone an Olympic program set in place. I guess I know why China always wins the medal tally, their government supports and takes the Olympics seriously which I admire. It was great to see a future for surfing China. I mean I wasn’t even sure there was quality waves in China let alone an Olympic surf program in place!
I’ve always been a huge fan of Chinese food so I was super excited to try all the different cuisine on offered. Turns out Chinese food in China ain’t the Chinese food I was eating in the western world. I’m not saying I didn't enjoy all the foods I ate, but there was so many times I thought I ordered beef or chicken and it turned out to be liver, intestine or something so far off the agenda I was beginning to feel alienated.
One thing I’ve become accustomed to is the difference between holidaying and travelling. The journey isn't always smooth and I’ve become acquainted with enjoying the experience in its entirety, for the good and the bad. For me travelling is about encountering different emotions and, as negative as situations can seem at times, I always walk away from the experience smiling and grateful for the opportunity to embrace a new culture and way of life.
